Archaeology is an exciting new secondary profession in World of Warcraft that comes with the third expansion Cataclysm. It is intended as a casual profession for players to enjoy in their downtime and focused on locating, piecing together and appraising artifacts unearthed by the Cataclysm.
Once you train Archaeology, you will have to find Digsites which are located based on your level and can be discovered on the map.
The higher your level, the more Digsites will be available to you, up to a maximum of 16 at level 85. Nine different types of fragments can be found there: Fossil, Night Elf, Troll, Dwarf, Draenei, Orc, Nerubian, Vrykul and Tol'vir. You can also find Keystones which count for as 12 fragments.
Archaeologists can give group buffs in Instances and Raids, get mounts and pets as rewards, find out much about the WoW lore, and sell their findings.
